Man of Steel

Hey fanboys and fangirls, welcome to another edition of Phil Goes to the Movies, this time around i was able to see Man of Steel, after work tonight. Now apparently, a lot is riding on the success of this film, because if and only if it does well they will make Justice League the movie. Now, with all that said and done lets get to the review.

The fight scenes were unbelievable in this movie, and the CGI effects really blended into the movie completely. They really showed you what could happen if something with immense strength and power fought in the middle of a populated city. The choice of actors i thought was very well picked. This new guy playing Superman, really looked like he could hold up a building, he needs to buy his personal trainer a new car.

Now here are somethings that happened in the movie I just couldn't ignore. First off, there were certain aspects of the movie that felt extremely rushed, and others they could have done with out. Lois Lane, for example, played no serious role in this movie, nor did she move the plot along. Heres why:

SPOLIER ALERT

She discovers the secret identity of superman literally in 10 minutes, by chasing all of these "leads", which were all the people from the flash backs in the movie of superman's youth. When, the Cryptonians come to get Superman, why the hell did they request for Lois to come with them? She had no purpose to be there, and all she did aboard the ship was meet the hologram of Superman's father. In the time it took her to escape, he was able to explain to her how to work their advanced technology. To turn their hyper drive into a portal to the phantom zone. Really?

Then, later in the movie Lois and Superman embrace in a kiss, showing they are falling for each other. This scene would make more sense if the movie portrayed them in other scenes, flirting or something. All i gathered from this was, she thought he was hot, and he wanted to bang her because she was hot!

How about the plane collides with the alien space ship, pulling everything and everyone in the phantom zone, and Lois falls from the plane last second. She continues to fall as everything else is being sucked into the vortex. I'm talking big pieces of buildings and cars... but her 115 pound ass cannot be pulled into the void. Riiiight!

Spoiler ENDED

The movie i felt tried to cram too much into it, and it effected it i believe. They could have left out Lois Lane, for the majority of the movie, and at the end when he comes to the Daily Planet you could meet the infamous Lois Lane. That wouldve been easier, and set it up for the sequel nicely.

Final Verdict- 7/10, the fight scenes were amazing, but the story line didn't make sense half the time, somethings were never really explained. The movie even though was 2.5 hours felt rushed, when it wasn't necessary, and they could have left things out for the sequels.

Honestly, i would go see the movie in theaters, but i couldn't see anyone seeing this more than once. Thats it for, i will return with more of the summers hits, this is Phil Goes to the Movies, so you don't have too!
