Avengers: Infinity War Part 1

The summer blockbuster season is not even here yet, and we already have some impressive movies coming out. I have stated this genre is my favorite of them all. This story arc has been building up over the course of 18 movies...Did the Avengers shine in this movie, or should they have never bothering assembling at all? Lets find out:

Avengers: Infinity- This storyline, in the comics, was massive, and it had way more characters involved than the movies could allow. It has been 10 years since we all saw the mad Titan show his purple mug during a post credit scene. Many many movies later, Marvel has really spent time developing these characters. My biggest fear, for this movie, was the overcrowding with Marvel characters. The 10 year build up could be too much hype for the movie to be bad ass.

Plot- Thanos has grown tired waiting for his minions to bring the infinity stones to him, so he has decided to take his strongest war band with him. The mad Titan and his faithful followers show no quarter to those opposing them, and Thanos is willing to sacrifice everything to obtain his goal, in becoming a god. Once he has all the stones, he wants to destroy the universe as a sign of mercy to them. He believes life can no longer sustain itself with so many living beings. Unfortunately, for him, the Avengers are ready to stop his sinister quest.

I was wrong in thinking the 10 year build up would ruin this movie. It only made it that much sweeter, and it just flowed beautifully as a story. Even though there were so many characters, it just moved along flawlessly by not being too complicating. Each character had their moment in this film, and the emotions ran high as our heroes engaged this powerful foe. This movie truly shows how Marvel Studios has mastered the formula to deliver an amazing superhero film. The only complaint I have is regarding the Hulk. Thats all I can say without spoiling anything.

The complaints fans had with too many jokes, in the past films, have been altered, meaning the tone was far more serious, and the jokes were there...just not every ten seconds. Thanos is NOT like past villains, which were forgettable, he was complex and didn't appear like a one dimensional Saturday morning cartoon villain. The fight scenes were intense, where you rooted for the heroes.

Final Verdict- 10/10- the movie has so much heart and soul to it. It is not your average superhero movie. Definitely, recommend seeing this in theaters.

Many movies coming out and ill be there to review them as I can...This is Phil Goes to the Movies, so you don't have to!

Spider-Man Home Coming

Newest superhero movie and your favorite movie reviewer is here to tell you save that cash or spend it freely. Plus, this is one of my favorite super heroes of all time, so i really judge harshly when it comes to Spider-Man. Let the review begin!

Spider-Man: Homecoming- This character is now being played by a third actor and a third attempt to make the web slinger apart of the infamous MCU. I remember seeing the first Spider-Man movie back in 2001. My most favorite parts of that movie was when Peter Parker was in high school. This entire film stays in that part of Peter's career as a hero.

Plot- A band of desperate men have been salvaging the alien technology, from the big battle on New York City. The man in charge is played by Michael Keaton, known as the Vulture. They are taking the advanced technology, and selling it for big bucks on the streets. Meanwhile, Peter Parker is trying to stop them to show Tony Stark he's worthy of becoming an Avenger, yet trying to balance his life as a high school student at the age of 14.

Tom Holland is charming as the character, just like he was "Captain America: Civil War". It was really interesting watching him grow in this film. He is still learning his true powers, so he has a way to go. A new character, Peter's best friend, played by Jacob Batalon, though not in the comics, he really was a welcomed addition. The chemistry between all of the characters really just worked, especially the big brother Tony Stark for Peter. Plus, there was so many references to how hot Aunt May is in these versions!

The action sequences were extremely well done, and holy crap were there alot of them... nothing felt forced or redundant. It just flowed nicely!

Final Verdict- 9/10- Highly recommend for everyone to go see this in theaters!

A few movies coming out this summer, but nothing really grabbing me to go and see... I'm sure ill see a few more before the summer comes to an end. For now, this Phil Goes to the Movies, so you don't have to!

Captain America: Civil War

This movie block buster season continues with Marvel bursting onto the scene with this newest edition into their universe. Now I have realized in the past I have rated these movies pretty high. I decided to have a far less fan boy outlook on reviewing this film. Now lets get to the review:

Captain America: Civil War- The sequels for Captain America have been written well, and the villains, for each of these movies, have been well done. Unlike the other forgettable Marvel sequels, yes, I am talking about you Thor and Iron Man... Even Ant Man, which was a pretty decent film, was almost a copy of the first "Iron Man". Starting to feel Marvel is pumping these out now, half assed to get to the bigger movies. Then again, they are making millions as they go, so what the hell do I know. Captain America films, I feel, these movies have been better overall.

Plot- In the past, the Avengers have saved many lives in their battles against the odds. People cheer for them, but what about the other half of the people? The ones who were injured during the battles, or even killed due to the overall destruction. Someone has to be held responsible. After another instance, in Wakanda, people have died due to their actions. The government has issued the Avengers to sign a waver stating they will now be "controlled". Meaning they will no longer act by their own means, but rather the government will tell them where and when they can act. Captain America and Iron Man are now at odds about this document. At the same time, Bucky is believed to be the cause of the mayhem in Wakanda. Captain America races to help his friend, and this causes a huge rift between the Avengers.

This movie has everything a comic book fan could possibly want from Marvel Studios to throw at them. They have many scenes of the characters bantering like every day people, which many fans have said they could watch a whole movie of just that, and the film has some of the most over the top action sequences to date. There is even a slow motion, iconic shot, of Captain America holding up his shield has Iron Man blasts into it. This is the cover of the Civil War franchise. Every single hero gets their moment of bad assness (Yes, I made up the word assness). The legendary airport scene, I would have to watch 4 more times just so I can catch everything that happened. Its the royal rumble comic nerds damn deserve to see!

Now, at the same time this is all going on, me as the viewer, did bounce back and forth from team to team. The points made by Tony Stark and Cap made sense. Now the emotional drive between both of them, I related to both, and when you watch the final act, you will understand what I am saying.

Final Verdict- 10/10, This movie has great acting, drama, humor, and action sequences never done before, and it is all done properly. Highly recommend this film for everyone to see in theaters.

Many more films coming out this summer, and I cannot wait to watch them all. This is Phil Goes to the Movies, so you don't have to!
